Physiotherapy at the Redway School
At the Redway School, the physiotherapy team is responsible for providing care and advice to students regarding
- Gross motor function, including mobility
- Muscle and joint ranges of movement, liaising with the orthopaedic team to limit musculo-skeletal problems
How does the Physiotherapy Team work?
The Redway physiotherapy team works closely with the children, school staff, families and other health professionals to maximise each student’s physical potential.
The team works with children on a one-to-one basis as well as making recommendations to school staff and families on how to integrate therapy into the school curriculum or family schedule.
Where does physiotherapy take place?
Physiotherapy takes place in different environments across the school, including:
- Therapy room
- Hydrotherapy pool
- Sensory integration room
- Soft play
- The MiLE room
- Outdoor play areas
Who is in the Team?
We have a team of highly qualified and experienced part-time physiotherapists.
Pam Marmelstein and Kate Drake are responsible for the physiotherapy management of the students, up to the age of 16.
Cathy Maguire manages the hydrotherapy and sensory integration services across the school.
Leah Dennett, from the Community Team for Adults with Learning Disabilities looks after the student’s physiotherapy needs when they turn 16.
Angelina Batty and Shandi Agin are physiotherapy assistants who support the team by carrying out children’s programmes, ordering equipment etc
