On Monday 4th February a group of pupils and staff from Chestnuts and Willows went to The Stables Theatre to see Ensemble 360, who present a ‘revolting concert’ for children featuring Roald Dahl’s Dirty Beasts (music by Martin Butler) and Goulash the Ghoul (written by Jan Page and set to Bartok’s String Quartet No.4)

The wonderful musical versions of three Dirty Beasts stories include Crocky-Wock the crocodile, who likes to crunch six juicy children for his lunch, the pig who hatches a plan to avoid being eaten by Farmer Bland and the Tummy Beast in the depths of your stomach. Then follows a greedy and grotesque story of Goulash the Ghoul, who stomps his way from town to town in search for the perfect feast.
The concert is an ideal introduction to the string quartet, wind quintet, piano and double bass.

It was a fantastic show and the children enjoyed the music and the story telling, they were directly in front of the stage and had a perfect view of the performance.
