Happy New Year to everyone. I hope that 2018 will be a good year for all parents, carers, staff, friends and stakeholders of our very special school. It was good to be back at school this week.
You will have gathered from this weeks Friday Letter that is was a delight to welcome everyone back to school on Thursday. Certainly all the pupils appeared glad to be back and into a normal routine (as were the staff on Wednesday!)
Over the holiday some work has been happening in school – creating a new workspace for some new pupils, which is still to be completed but after this weekend and next week all will be sorted by next Friday – fingers crossed! Other vital maintenance work was also completed.
On Wednesday we welcomed several new members of staff – teachers, STA’s, SALT and Physiotherapy Assistants. We hope that they and also our new pupils settle in to the life at The Redway well and enjoy all that we offer.
We had a full on training day on Wednesday with staff participating in several different things – required safeguarding, fire marshal training, de-escalation and positive handling training, as well as a whole school staff meeting regarding pupil engagement and our assessment app, then preparing classrooms ready for the new term. It was a busy but good start to the new calendar year at school.
Following on from the information in this weeks Friday Letter about the pool air temperature, I am pleased to report that a new fan has been sourced and ordered. The downside is that it has to come from abroad and the delivery time is approximately 4 weeks. Hopefully like the previous time we had similar problems it will arrive sooner so that the pool can be operational again for all pupils.
This forthcoming week brings our annual pantomime in school for some of our pupils and timetables returning to normal! We are pleased about this!
Hoping you are all having a lovely weekend and enjoying the sunshine – all be it being a tad cold!
