4th March

‘The beast from the East’ certainly arrived this week and impacted upon everyone. However, we all managed to keep warm (thanks to our wonderful new boilers) and continued to enjoy our learning activities. Although not an easy decision to close early on Thursday, the Leadership Team, Governors and I are of the opinion it was a good call to ensure that all pupils and staff arrived home safely as well as closing the school on Friday. We did not take this decision lightly and, indeed waited until Thursday evening before deciding to close on Friday. I hope that you have all managed to stay safe, warm and enjoy the snow over the weekend.

Having, finally been able to get my car out onto the roads in Oxford this morning and with an update on the roads in Milton Keynes sent through to me I am pleased to say that we are expecting to be open as usual tomorrow. I ‘m sure like me you are all looking forward to getting back to normal and are hoping that the arrival of spring comes soon along with some warmer weather.

The Friday Letter will be sent home tomorrow with the pupils.

This week we welcomed Kathy back to The Redway as class teacher of Daisies Class. We are pleased that she has chosen to return to The Redway and will embrace all things ‘Daisies!’

Sam has renewed some of our displays within school, as you can see from the photographs with this update. There is also a new display in the main school reception promoting our outdoor learning and forest school activities. Skie has also been busy making some wooden planters to go round the pillars outside the main reception. She managed last week to plant some – this continues to be work in progress.

Sadly, the pool part for which we have been waiting since well before Christmas still has not arrived and as such will be chased up earnestly tomorrow as its almost a term that the pool has been out of action. This is not ideal for our pupils well being for whom work in the pool is crucial. The water temperature is at the correct level, as is the air temperature in the changing rooms it’s the air temperature around the pool that is considerably low - at one point last week there was over a 20 degrees difference.

We are all hoping that this forthcoming week will be positive, with lots of pupil engagement and learning happening within and outside of school.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone.
