A Visit From Chloe Smith MP – Minister For Disabled People

On Thursday of this week (April 28th) we had a visit to the school from Chloe Smith MP, Minister for Disabled People, together with the Deputy Mayor of Milton Keynes, Amanda Marlow.

With our Chair of Governors, Mike Rowlands and his disabled daughter Emma, Amanda and Head Teacher Ruth Sylvester gave Chloe a tour of the main school site. Sadly, time commitments meant that we were unable to visit the Transitions site.

Chloe was extremely impressed with the school and commented upon not only the dedication and hard work of the staff but also the engagement with pupils and the learning that was taking place. She also expressed an understanding of the diverse needs of our school population, acknowledging our lack of space within school and how creative staff are in managing this,

She was also interested in the final destinations of our Post 16 leavers, as well as asking about the challenges which we face as a school at present.

We were all pleased to welcome her to our very special school community and hope that she enjoyed the visit too!

Rocksteady: A Day of Music

Thank you for the music!  It was a pleasure to welcome the Rocksteady Music Group into school for workshops with our pupils.  It was an amazing musical experience with a combination of keyboards, electric guitars, drums and microphones.  At the end of each session, pupils formed their very own rock band and performed a song along with the people from Rocksteady.  The delight on the pupil’s faces said it all!

World Book Day 2022 was great fun: Caldecotte and Linford classes helped choose our book for World Book Day 2022 and we all agreed that their choice of Kitchen Disco was excellent. Many fruit characters were seen doing the conga around the school!  Classes took part in a decorate-a-door competition, and Mercedes class were chosen from an excellent selection. They won a £20 book voucher for their class.  The book fair was extremely popular, with students taking time to choose a book to take home.  Staff and students enjoyed dressing up as their favourite characters – Banana DJ was a great hit!
