The end of the academic year is always an emotional one when we say ‘goodbye and good luck’ to our leavers. This year it’s been more so as we said goodbye to pupils who are moving onto other schools. Thank you to those of you who came along to our end of year assemblies – it was good to see you all there.
So we said ‘So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Goodbye’ to quote from the Sound of Music to Jaydon, Priya, Samira and Tony from Transitions, and to Dylan, Nile, Ralfs, Scott, and Tambir from the main site. Dylan announced the last tannoy of the year for staff at the end of school on Friday as his way of signing out! We wish them all the very best for the future and hope that they continue to do well.
We also said a sad farewell to Jackie our wonderful supply teacher who has been coming in for the past four years. She has been a flexible gem – working across the school, a positive influence and a person who embraced the true Redway ethos. We wish her a very happy retirement.
Tiffany also left on Friday – the start of her maternity leave.
The carnival also came to The Redway on Thursday where we had a traditional merry go round, teacup and car rides, a gaming and virtual reality booth, the indoor planetarium and Sharon’s horses that christened our new stables on site. It goes without saying that a fabulous time was had by all, the pupil responses to all of this were just wonderful to see and were observed throughout the day by one of our new governors, who was in awe of the work that the staff do.
So we now are all ready and prepared for the Summer Activity Scheme and the ‘Great Redway Deep Clean’ that happens every summer. In addition to this we are having some work done inside and outside school. The music room is being made into a classroom and we are building another cabin outside to be our music room. This is only one job that is being completed there are lots of others!
Hoping everyone is having a good weekend.
