15th September

Our first full week of the new academic year. It started in a very frustrating way with no Internet access at the main site on Monday and Tuesday. We all struggled with this, not only me but also the staff and the pupils  – but all is now well!

But there have been lots of positive things happening this week. Our outdoor learning activities began with lots of happy smiling faces from the pupils, Sharon brought her horses down to school for some groups to look after, tend and bond with on Wednesday, college for students in Transitions started on Thursday and on Friday the café reopened.

We were pleased to welcome some of our new parents and carers to the café it was good to see them as well as Julie, an ex member of staff who is in the process of setting up a respite centre for pupils in Early Years.

The new Music Room Cabin has been sorted and organised ready for use this week by Linda and Brad, blinds for the windows have been ordered!

Tim, Andy and Ian are continuing their hard work across the sites the on site allotment is still ‘work in progress’ but will soon be sorted. However, our school allotment needs some TLC – if anyone could help at all with this it would be very much appreciated.

There are some fantastic photos in the class pages on the school website, some of which still need to be formatted to be ‘up and running’ but hopefully by the end of this next week they will all be.

This next week we have a gripping Pool Plant Operators Course for some staff who look after the pool to ensure its fit for use, to a very high standard I have to say. This is a challenge in itself!

On Friday its Jeans for Genes Day – so we will be once again supporting this good cause. We would like all pupils and staff to wear tidy jeans for the day (no rips etc.) and donate £2 to this good cause, or £3 if like me jeans are not an option! The café too will be supporting this – any donations of cakes would be very welcome especially vegan ones as Rachel is currently unable to bake at home -  this is a long story!

Hoping everyone is having a lovely weekend and enjoying the sunshine.
