30th September

First, thank you to all who supported our café on Friday in aid of Macmillan Cancer. It was very much appreciated. Next weeks Friday letter will inform everyone of the amount raised.

The water leak is now all sorted, but we still have a hole! Anglian water are waiting until things dry out a little before completing the work. The stables though are still standing – we are just without a shed – but this will be rectified as soon as possible. However, other major water leaks have ‘sprung up’ around school on the Netherfield estate during the week. Hopefully we will not be affected.

This week in school we have been rehearsing our singing and signing for our harvest festivals. Brenda led the signing with Brad and Judi leading the singing. After more practices this next week everyone should be ready and prepared for them! We do look forward to you coming along to our harvest celebrations. Please can you remember to send in any goods and produce ready for the 10th and 11th?

On Friday we will be participating in ‘Red, White and Blue Day’ commemorating the end of the First World War. Later this term – in November, we will be having a specific focus on this, with our own street party in school along the corridors as well as the main hall and dining room.

Helen has been doing a fantastic job in sprucing up and tidying round our garden areas, courtyards and paths at both the main school site and at the Transitions Department. Tim has also been busy putting down pathing slabs and sorting out a paved area for our in school allotment at the back of Aston Martin class.

We have received the fantastic news that we have been granted another £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund. This will go towards funding a bucket swing and other outside equipment. This will be based outside Brabham but all classes along the corridor will be able to access this. We anticipate this being installed sooner, rather than later. Hopefully!

Our new pupils have settled well into life at The Redway, we are very pleased about this.

Our first parents and carers support group meeting of this academic year takes place on Wednesday – please do come along to this. Brenda will be leading the session, as it will focus on signing.

A reminder that Doves, Wrens, Pirates and Wavendon Classes are closed on Thursday and Friday for essential training.

Hoping that everyone is having a lovely weekend.
