1st December

As I sit and write it’s hard to believe that we are now in December – how did 2018 pass so quickly?

This week, several classes have been on their end of term Christmas outings and have had a lovely time – others will be going out over the forthcoming weeks.  From the photographs I have seen from the visits so far, the looks on our pupils faces demonstrate they had a wonderful time.

Verity took a group of pupils to a Boccia tournament where they met with pupils from other schools including ex Redway pupils – including Dylan – who decided to ‘jump ranks’ and re-join Redway! Everyone embraced the true spirit of the game and although we did not win a fun time was had by all.

So things that have been happening in the building and outside – finally the issues with the pool air temperature has been resolved (fingers crossed!) The pool is now fully operational, though this could change at any moment! Our new bucket swing and outside musical equipment has been installed at the rear of the school by Brabham Classroom. This will really be of benefit for all classes in this area of the school as well as our new classes that are soon to be built.

Christmas has really come to Redway – especially yesterday. Not only did we have staff training occurring, as well as band practice and then the annual decorating of the school and the Transitions building. It’s always a challenge to get this done. Working with colleagues in harmony – but we did it and everywhere looks truly magical. I have no doubt that the pupils will be in ‘awe and wonder’ when they arrive on Monday.

It’s our first Christmas Concert for pupils in Whaddon, Wolverton, Woughton, Mercedes, Brabham, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Red Bull, Arrows, Furzton, Caldecotte and Transitions at the Church of Christ the Cornerstone at 2pm on Thursday. Then, on December 12th our second concert at St Mary’s Woughton on the Green for all remaining classes at 10:30am. Please do come along and support us. Everyone has been working very hard to ensure they will be a success.

Our Christmas Fayre is on Monday December 10th from 1pm – 2:30pm and this year we are being a little more creative! A letter will be sent home to everyone this week with further information, but we welcome any donations of toys, bric a brac, anything for the tombola stall and bottles for the bottle stall, as well as cakes nearer the day! This year we will not have a clothes stall or one for books and DVD’s. However, there will be lots of fun things on sale as well as Santa’s Grotto, refreshments and of course the raffle! We will look forward to your support with this – all monies raised go to purchase teaching resources and for classes as well as supporting the full costs of class visits.

Redway is a very special place to be, but especially so at this time of year, where we all embrace the true meaning of Christmas. We are all looking forward to the next three weeks – my daily highlight is switching on all the lights when I open up in the dark very early each morning – it fills me with glee!

Hoping you are all having a wonderful weekend.
