11th May

The four day week in school is always a slightly confusing one for both pupils and staff! We all thought it was Monday on Tuesday!

We have had a good week, with lots of interactions between pupils as well as with staff and some wonderful engagement in learning too. I have been very pleased with what I have observed occurring in classes on my daily walks around school and in the Transitions Building.

Although we had some lovely sunshine, which we all enjoyed, the downpours we had highlighted some leaks in the roof and also where work is needed on the guttering. However, some pupils loved watching the rain water flow over the edge of the guttering and one pupil was determined to stand under it and get wet as well as catching the water in a container! This brought a smile to many faces as her verbal communication during this was excellent. So, we have also had fun in our learning -  you’ll note one member of staff in the photographs having a shaving foam experience!

Dennis was our special visitor in school this week, he came along to our assembly all about May Day too. Red Bull were able to show him around school and we were all able to thank him for his generous donation enabling us to purchase a very special feeding spoon for one of our pupils, who is now an independent eater. He is very proud of this.

June is fast approaching so a gentle reminder that our Summer Fayre is on Saturday June 29th between 11am – 2pm. After half term we welcome donations for this and raffle tickets will go on sale on June 4th. We will not though be having a second hand clothes stall, but any contributions of toys, bric a brac, raffle prizes etc as well as cakes nearer the day will be appreciated. Before this though we have our three sports activity mornings. We do hope that you will be able to come along and support your son / daughter.

Term time dates for the next academic year 2019 – 2020 and for some of the staff training days are now sorted and are now on our school website. I still have to finalise some of the events for the year but this will be completed ready for September.

Hoping that everyone is having a lovely weekend.
