23rd June

It’s been a busy week both at school and down in Devon.

The residential to The Calvert Trust was once again successful, the pupils surprised us all with their achievements and how they embraced all the challenges. This could not have been done without the support of staff from Calvert but also the school staff who accompanied the visit, as well as those back at ‘base camp’ keeping the school running smoothly.

At school Di led Wednesdays assembly- all about the summer solstice with some Morris dancing and other activities relating to the longest day of the year. A lot of fun was had by all.

Back to more mundane things, we  now have had the required number of quotes for the repairs to the roof of the hydrotherapy pool which have been sent on for consideration to the LA, plus we now know which company will be building the new classrooms shortly. Hopefully work will be able to begin soon on the roof of the pool as we would like to aim for the pool to be fully operational by the new academic year. We are expecting the new classroom build to commence at the start of the summer holiday.

On Tuesday we are holding our final sports morning – though at present the forecast does not look promising. A decision will be made tomorrow as to whether to postpone again or to go ahead.

Please remember that on Saturday we are holding our Summer Fayre from 11am – 2pm. All donations are welcome,  - toys, bric a brac, etc but no clothes please! Raffle tickets are now on sale at the usual price of £1 per strip – we have some lovely prizes this year. We also would be grateful for any cakes to sell on Saturday to come in towards the end of the week.  All money that we raise is used for supporting our off site visits as well as classroom resources.  We look forward to seeing you there!

This week I’ll also be sorting out the places for the summer activity scheme. Letters confirming dates for your son / daughter will be sent home during the week of July 1st. As always,  we have a high demand for places sadly more than we can staff but please be assured that we will allocate as many as possible to all families that have requested them.

Hoping that everyone is having a good weekend.
