Forest School Christmas Party December 2016

On a dry but muddy Friday, Daffodils, Bluebells and Chestnuts classes set off for a Forest School Christmas party in the woods.   The children were very excited to be all together in the woods, and were very keen to explore and show the Chestnuts children the dens and secret footpaths in and around the trees. Forest School news February 2015

This term we have had lots of muddy and wet days to take into consideration.  We have taken our Literacy stories Gruffalo’s Child to local woods, where we even had snow to make our footprints in. Having snowball fights in the orchard and making snow angels has been a highlight of the term. We have had several trips to local garden centres, to choose seeds for our future planting in the spring and summer months. We have been leading a range of Forest School activities at The Redway, which seeks many benefits for our children. The children are able to explore natural environments, at their own pace with adults taking a back seat approach, allowing the children to lead the way in their own learning.  Forest School highlights a unique child centred approach to learning in the natural world, and are encouraged to use all their senses in the process.
