14th April

Saturday 14th of April 2018
The first week of the Summer Term has been a busy one. We all welcomed the pupils back to school on Monday and have had a fun filled week of learning. Thank you all for supporting our Autism Awareness Day on Friday. There were some interesting ‘onesies’ and blue outfits. We held a collection at Reception, the café and Palms stall proceeds will go towards this. The total raised will be counted next week and will be in the Friday Letter. We had several new school passenger transport...

The last week of every term always feels a little ‘surreal!’ We continued to have fun on our learning. Poppies said goodbye to their student teacher Leanne, who has done very well with her placement at The Redway and very well supported by Fiona and Linda. They also held an afternoon tea party for pupils and their parents, which was delightful. Chestnuts went out for afternoon tea – all relating to our topic for this term Great Britain. Next term’s theme is The Caribbean –...

This week our focus has been on planning and preparation, ready for the Summer Term, which is always a busy one. Teachers met to plan for next terms topic in department groups on Wednesday after school. Our topic is The Caribbean  - hopefully warm weather and sunshine will be supportive of us. Team PE are working very hard at planning our Healthy Living Week with a slightly different focus this year as well as our three sports activity mornings! During this week pupils, some accompanied by their...

10th March

It was good to be back to normal on Monday with the roads passable and no snow anywhere (well apart from the school car park.) I am sure that some of us enjoyed the snow (it did look pretty) but the impact it had on the smooth running of the school was felt. However, staff made the most of the snow day on Friday and although few were in school, lots of jobs were done! We also enjoyed it in school whilst the pupils were with us before they left early on Thursday. The most exciting news from this week is...

4th March

Sunday 4th of March 2018
‘The beast from the East’ certainly arrived this week and impacted upon everyone. However, we all managed to keep warm (thanks to our wonderful new boilers) and continued to enjoy our learning activities. Although not an easy decision to close early on Thursday, the Leadership Team, Governors and I are of the opinion it was a good call to ensure that all pupils and staff arrived home safely as well as closing the school on Friday. We did not take this decision lightly and, indeed waited until...

24th February

Tuesday 27th of February 2018
I know that I always say this, but it was lovely to see all the pupils back in school on Monday and yes they were all pleased to be back to their usual routines – as were the staff! I do hope though that you all had a wonderful half term holiday. Over the half term holiday various work has been done at school including new flooring laid outside Ladybirds and Dragonflies, the shutters of the serving hatch being serviced, several areas painted to name but a few. This week we welcomed a new pupil...

3rd February

Saturday 3rd of February 2018
This week has been a quiet one in school about which we were pleased. Some staff are still affected by illnesses – especially the flu, but not in the high numbers as we experienced earlier this term. Some pupils too have also been unwell and once again I would like to stress that if your son / daughter does have signs of a cold, flu or any other illnesses then it would be appreciated if they remained at home. Some pupils participated in the Ability basketball tournament on Wednesday and all did...
