Sports Day 12th July
Monday, July 12th 2010
This year we were supported by volunteers from DHL for our sports day which took place on Monday July 12th. We exhibited true ‘British Spirit’ as the weather did not stop us – in fact we probably enjoyed it more because of the rainy day experience! But we started in sunshine and ended with the sun shining too.
All the pupils participated in a range of activities – ‘potted sports’ using the parachute, trampets, sensory equipment, on the playground whilst the elder pupils tried their best at long jump, football and a range of throwing events.
After a welcome break with a fantastic range of healthy snacks and drinks provided by DHL we embarked on our races – then the rain came down! But we carried on and all had a wonderful morning, even though some of us got very wet!
At the end of the morning all the pupils were presented with a certificate, sun hat, medal and bubbles by the staff from DHL. They also presented us with a cheque for £1035 – the money they had raised in support of the school mainly by cakes sales. This will be put towards our plans for updating the main playground.
A very big ‘THANK YOU’ goes to DHL but also to Sam Lazard and all the school staff for making the morning the success it was.
Well done everyone!
