Tree Planting at Stowe Gardens
Luckily this year The Redway were invited to Stowe Gardens to be involved in their new tree planting project which has been designed to inspire pupils and get them in the great outdoors.
We took a group of pupils from school supported by STA's and the sun shone for us all day. The pupils planted a variety of trees including apples, pear, cherries and plum. The group were expected to dig the planting hole, loosen the roots of the tree, place the tree in the centre of the hole, build a soil berm, stake the tree and protect the newly planted tree from the local rabbits!
As you can see from the photos below, the pupils did extremely well and all had smiles on their faces, followed instructions and prompts well and embraced the experience. The trees that we planted will take 10 years to be fully grown so watch this space.....
