Mike Rowlands : Chair of Governors
I am 75 years old. Married with three adult children and moved to Bletchley in 1968 when MK was a designated new town. One of my daughters has profound and multiple learning difficulties and went to a special school in Bletchley, the other two children went to mainstream schools.
I have been a school governor since 1982 at Secondary, Primary and Special Schools. I am currently a Governor at The Redway School and have been involved with the school and its predecessor for over 40 years I am also a Governor at a Milton Keynes Primary School.
Currently Board member of Milton Keynes (NHS) Clinical Commissioning Group (deputy chair). In that role I Chair the Boards Quality Committee. Part of the role of the Quality Committee is to monitor safeguarding in Milton Keynes. I am also a member of the Audit Committee, Remuneration Committee, Primary Care Committee and Audit Committee
Prior to this I was Chair of Milton Keynes Hospital until 2008 and during that time led the Board through the process of becoming a Foundation Trust.
Interests and additional information
I have a personal interest in Learning Disability and this has expanded to an interest in the world of disability.
I enjoy motor cars, gardening and shopping.
