Rachel Farrow : Assistant Headteacher

I have been one of the Assistant Head Teacher since 2015, however I have been at The Redway School since 1997, starting as a teaching assistant, training to be a teacher and completing my degree with support from the school, being a class teacher and then moving into being part of the school leadership team in 2014.

I feel very privileged to work at The Redway School, it is a fantastic place where the pupils needs are at the heart of what we do.  The pupils thrive on the range of different teaching styles and activities that we offer and enjoying coming to school.

My job role is very varied, my favourite aspect is the time I spend in class with the pupils, seeing their enjoyment in the activities we offer and ensuring that we have lots of fun whilst learning.  I support a range of work experience students and volunteers to get the most out of their time here at The Redway School.  I also assist with supporting new staff through their induction period and support staff with their continuing professional development and help organize training and INSET days across school.  I believe that we play an important part in supporting the whole family, I am able to give parents a bit more time to talk through any problems and concerns.  I also enjoy leading parental courses such as EarlyBirds which is a programme for parents who have children on the Autistic Spectrum.
