The Redway School is maintained by Milton Keynes LA (Local Authority) catering for children between the ages of 2 – 19 with a wide range of learning difficulties, including complex medical conditions, profound and multiple learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties and those with an autistic spectrum condition.
All pupils and students attending the school are supported by an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).
Occasionally pupils are admitted to school on an assessment placement to identify their needs and requirements.
The school is located in Netherfield, near to both the city centre and Milton Keynes General Hospital.
Our specialist facilities include a MiLE Room (multisensory interactive learning environment), dark room, soft play room, Sensory Integration Room, music room, a hall, sun room as well as two specialist cabins, one for alternative therapies which include Yoga and Sounds of Intent and the second for supporting the activities for pupils with ASC.
We also have a gym with a full sized trampoline for rebound therapy, a tumble track, as well as a wealth of specialist bikes and trikes, which are housed on our superb playground, and a magnificent hydrotherapy pool with sensory equipment, including underwater speakers which aid the follow on work from Liquid Vibrations. In addition we have several items of portable equipment that are used across school including a Museii, Cube, gathering drums, resonance boards, interactive train, and sensory trolleys.
We also have a large meeting room and a suite of therapy rooms used by the transdisciplinary team who work alongside school staff.
The staff team are highly specialised, working together to provide a curriculum which is unique, innovative, creative and totally relevant to the needs of all the pupils. As a result the curriculum is delivered via techniques which are personalised to the needs of each individual pupil.
All staff are trained to a high standard and are extremely focussed on the individual needs of all pupils.
