Residential Visit to The Calvert Trust November 2016
On one of the wettest November days ever 10 pupils, 9 staff and a parent travelled down to The Calvert Trust, Exmoor, Devon. As the weather conditions were not good for driving and we had been advised that the usual roads into the centre were stating to flood we took extra care.
We all arrived safely and the pupils and staff (especially those who had not been before) were very excited!
We worked in two groups, but all experienced the same activities – the challenge course, bush craft (it was a tad difficult lighting a fire after the previous wet day – but we did it!), crate staking, king swing, abseiling, climbing, the zip wire, and horse riding.
We had a wonderful afternoon out at Woolacombe – although it was windy some of us still went for a walk on the beach before exploring the shops. Many thanks to the staff at The Red Barn – who welcomed us warmly and provided us with drinks and support.
Our evening activities included a swim, a visit from Exmoor Zoo and on the last evening we all danced away to the disco.
Everyone rose to the challenges presented during the week well, for some out of their comfort zones, but had a go!
We had a much better journey back to school where we were welcomed home by parents, carers and staff.
Well done to everyone – a hugely successful visit. With many thanks to all the staff from school, Mel and also the staff at The Calvert Trust for making it so.
Looking forward to our next visit in June and then next November!
